Since 1990 the Japan Aviation Academy has been actively recruiting foreign students. Currently there are 114 students from Thailand, Mongolia, China, Brazil and Korea at Japan Aviation High School, Yamanashi campus and 46 students from Mongolia, Brazil, China, Thailand, Russia and Tonga at Japan Aviation High School Ishikawa, Wajima campus.
Combining these students with students from all over Japan creates a uniquely diverse student body that we are very proud of. As students live, study, and participate in extra curricular activities together they share culture and experiences from around the world. This gives the students from abroad a first hand look at Japanese culture and a peek into the cultures of the other foreign students around them. The interactions that take place also give our Japanese students a chance to learn about different cultures through personal experiences rather than from a book. Sometimes the foreign students even inspire domestic students to take advantage of our study abroad programs in New Zealand, England and China.
We would like to present some of the schools international exchanges that involves with the foreign students in Japan.
日本航空学園は、１９９０年より多くの留学生を受け入れ、国際交流が盛んです。現在、日本航空高等学校（山梨）には114名（タイ、モンゴル、中国、ブラジル、韓国）、また日本航空高等学校石川（輪島）には、４６名（モンゴル、ブラジル、中国、タイ、ロシア、トンガ）の留学生が在籍しています。これほど多くの留学生を受け入れている高校は珍しく、毎日が真の国際交流だとも言えます。形だけの国際交流ではなく、同じ教室で学び、寮の同部屋で暮らし、寝食をともにすることによって、毎日が異文化と触れ合う国際交流です。
留学生は、日本人生徒とともに勉学や部活動に励み、活躍しています。また、学校生活や寮生活を通じて、日本人生徒と友情を育み、日本の習慣、文化も体験しています。一方で、こうした活動は日本人生徒の国際感覚を培っています。在学中または卒業後にニュージーランド、イギリス、中国などへ留学する生徒もいます。
ここでは、このような本学園の国際交流活動や留学生の活躍の様子についてご紹介します。
